Attending an ADHD Retreat in Portugal
I recently attended a retreat with ADHD Retreats, which was in Portugal and especially made for those with ADHD, or for those that have friends or family with ADHD and want to learn and share in ways to support them.
I found the entire experience really helpful, well thought out and well run. The group was small (max 10 people) and the facilitators were absolutely fantastic.
The group dynamic also really lovely, with everyone being on a similar wavelength and being able to understand each other. We shared a lot of common experiences and all grew in our understanding. Everyone was so nice, endearing and fun. I made good friends and hope for us to attend another retreat together in the future.
The Retreat
We did a variety of workshops, including one I found particularly interesting on gut health, learning how to make fermented foods and how increaing the vartiety of foods we eat helps us to have a more balanced microbiome. Which is particularly important for those with ADHD as research has shown a correlation between gut health and ADHD symptoms. THose with ADHD also tend to not eat a wide variety of foods, often eating the same things every day, which doesn't help much there. This was all presented in a fun and engaging way, with understanding of ADHD and how it affects people.
There were a variety of other workshops, a daily yoga practise on the beautiful farm, as well as time on the beach, and had some amazing food.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a supportive and understanding environment to help with their ADHD. Especially those that might be new to retreats, or want to better understand their ADHD, or how to support someone with ADHD, via shared experiences and collective learning.
